Helping Your rating Athlete

Pressure Cooker

You know what kind of pressures your young athletes grappling with?

As a parent sport, it is important to be voted on this issue. If your athletes are on horseback, for example, probably feel the pressure to perform up to their abilities. Then there's the added pressure of dealing with their horses ups' and downs. In addition, the potential for danger and a pressure cooker situation at times. This is what Missy Clark, head coach and owner of Scuderia Run Show NorthWarren, Vermont, has recently said in an interview. He collaborates with some of the best young player in the country.

What distinguishes the top performers in situations of high pressure?

They understand the mental side of sport, says Clark. In fact, one of his younger athletes had a successful end, as a "sponge" for sport psychology, he says. "It was not the pilot more natural talent, but he incredibly open about the mental aspect of sports."

This applies to all childrenSports. They face numerous pressures. It can be intimidating even compared to their competitors. You can put pressure on you to perform better than their peers. He feels the pressure of the coaches to improve their performance.

If sport can identify children and learn to deal with these pressures to do, have a huge advantage. You are probably more happy and successful.

Here's a tip. Your children are more likely to impose much pressure on themselves. You do not need any more pressure on you. Pay close attention to how "support" the end of words, especially before a race or a game. Even if you say before a game: "I hope you score three goals today," you're under pressure, your athletes.

Play with your children free, intuitive and fun to have, should feel any pressure from others to do well and win. In a confident attitude, are free, new methods and skills without the burden of caring for the explorationScore or the "win".

And another suggestion. Fighting too often, young athletes with the definition of appropriate goals for themselves. Why? Or the media glamorize the best athletes - Because they are often influenced by family members.

We recently asked Dony Wilcher, a popular basketball coach in Portland, Oregon, on the subject. He suggests that parents let their children play and have fun until the fifth grade or so. Now is a good idea to discuss your young athlete in the long termGoals with them.

Do not try to sort them NBA stars trying to talk to or never earn scholarships, he says. Let your goals. Then we can help them a roadmap to achieve their goals. And you can help them achieve their goals of financial and emotional support.

If the young athlete is old enough to have to identify their goals, they should think about their goals for practice and for games and competitions. In addition, they should considertheir "mental game" to achieve. These relate to the trust confidence and composure. You can also see the fitness goals aimed to improve strength, flexibility, endurance and fitness in general.
